Our Advantage

Why is it a wise decision to use the services of an independent insurance broker? Working with an independent broker offers many advantages.

Simplified insurance coverage offered exclusively in Ontario.

A product of The Dominion, Chieftain Insurance (Chieftain) is the right choice for those who value quality and simplicity when shopping for home or automobile insurance.

The Chieftain insurance package offers you comprehensive coverage through a standardized set of features which accommodate the needs of most policyholders. It is a “one-stop shop” for your insurance needs, at a competitive price.

Limited coverage options are available with the Chieftain product. Should you require additional insurance protection, we offer a full range of products, coverages and optional increased accident benefits through The Dominion.

How Chieftain makes it easy:

·    The Chieftain product is a continuous policy, meaning that it will never expire unless it is canceled. You never have to worry renewing your policy, and you may cancel at any time without penalty.

·    The Chieftain product is rated monthly. This means that your insurance premiums are always up to date based on the most current information. For example, such things as an improved driving record will take immediate effect and may lower your insurance rate the following month.

·    Payment is made by credit card or online/telephone bank payments.

On April 30, 1837, a meeting was held in Plumber Burley’s Hotel (now the Promenade House) in Hamilton Ontario.  An Act was passed in 1836, in the Province of Upper Canada in the sixth year of the reign of King William IV, authorizing the establishment of mutual insurance companies and the freeholders of the District of Gore were anxious to form a company.  Unfortunately, William Lyon MacKenzie, head of the Reform Party at that time, called for a rebellion and the plans for the company were delayed.  It was not the time to begin a new company.  With the economy finally stabilizing, the Gore District Mutual Fire Insurance Company was formed on June 18, 1839, at the Brantford School House, 28 years before Canadian Confederation.

For almost two centuries Gore Mutual has remained an outstanding pillar in the insurance industry.  Our commitment to service excellence has been recognized by insurance broker associations.  Gore Mutual is proud to be named the #1 insurance company in British Columbia and Ontario by both the IBABC and IBAO.*

It’s no secret we love our job.   We have the privilege of watching entrepreneurial ideas come to life;  the privilege of serving generations of families as they grow.  Gore Mutual is there along the way to offer help when you need it.  And we’re there to give back so your community becomes a better place to live.  Through the Gore Mutual Foundation, we are proud to support many organizations.  Like we said – we love our job.

* Gore Mutual was named the number one insurance company in Ontario by the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario in 2014, 2008 and 2006
